Understanding the Role of Financial Planning and a Financial Planner
What is Financial Planning?
Financial planning is a lifelong process. The objectives for initiating the financial planning process are threefold:
-
Identify the goals and vision you have for your life
-
Create a systematic plan to work toward those goals
-
Continually evaluate your progress and recommend changes when necessary
What is a Financial Plan?
The Financial Plan should be viewed as a snapshot of your current financial situation. A comprehensive financial plan will help you solidify your goals, identify potential opportunities and pitfalls, and offer recommendations and solutions. No one plan can stand alone as the final step in your planning. It is almost certain you will need to update and implement changes to your plan throughout the years as both planned and unplanned events may affect progress; however, the plan we set forth initially should give us a clearer picture to measure your progress moving forward.
Why should I work with a Financial Planner?
A primary reason for going through the financial planning process is to bring clarity and answers to what are often murky and seemingly unknowable questions:
How do I know if I am on track for where I want to be?
Is there something else I should be doing?
How can I sift through the endless stream of information and filter it down to what actually impacts my personal situation?
I believe it is important to have a thorough financial plan and my goal is to be your trusted financial planner. As your financial planner, my goals are to answer your questions and help ease your concerns. I also want to equip you to make wise decisions for your future through ongoing resources and education.
The goal of the financial planning process is to give you a roadmap to help determine how to get where you want to go, and to be empowered with the confidence to do so.
